Collaborators

A Growing Support Network

The Citadelle Native Re-vegetation Project has grown through the support of many people, organisations and collaborators over the years.

Our flagship collaborators have helped the project continue, expand and care for the restoration site through long-term, recurring or significant support.

Every contribution to the project matters. Gold and Silver recognition simply helps acknowledge different forms of support behind the restoration journey.

Flagship Collaborators

Our flagship collaborators have played a major role in helping the projec grow, strengthen its field capacity and continue restoration work at La Citadelle.

They help sustain our project, create awareness and provide care for the site through recurring collaborations, support through CSR, activities and targeted project contributions.

Currimjee

Currimjee Foundation

The Currimjee Foundation has supported Friends of the Environment since the beginning of the current restoration phase on the northern flank of La Citadelle in 2015.

Now in its eleventh year of support, the Foundation has helped sustain native planting, site care, environmental education, awareness activities and the continued development of the restoration area.

Its contribution has also supported the placement of two beehives on the restoration plots, adding a pollinator-awareness and learning component to the project.

Additionally, employees of Currimjee Jeewanjee & Co. Ltd. regularly take part in field activities through the We Care We Do initiative.

European Union

European Union

The European Union co-funded a major phase of the Citadelle Native Re-vegetation Project through the action Ecological forest restoration of Petite-Montagne, implemented from January 2022 to June 2026.

This support helped expand ecological restoration work at La Citadelle and contributed directly to the achievement of the project's 4-hectare restoration target.

During this phase, the project strengthened native planting, site maintenance, invasive vegetation management, monitoring, environmental awareness and field coordination across the restoration area.

EU support furthermore helped place the project on a stronger footing for long-term restoration management, improving its capacity to care for the site and sustain ecological gains over time.

C-Care

C-Care

Since 2024, C-Care has collaborated with the Citadelle Native Re-vegetation Project through its One Life One Tree initiative.

Now in its third year of collaboration, the initiative connects the birth of a child with the planting of a native tree at La Citadelle.

Parents of newborns at C-Care and C-Care employees take part in planting activities, creating a meaningful link between new life, native biodiversity and restoration.

This recurring collaboration supports native species planting while helping raise awareness of environmental protection, biodiversity and conservation among families, employees and the wider community.

NSIF

National Social Inclusion Foundation

Friends of the Environment is registered with the National Social Inclusion Foundation under registration number NCSRF/2017/0514 and has received support under the F4 programme scheme.

Through CSR-linked support, NSIF helps sustain the project's work in environmental protection, ecological restoration, education and community engagement, while contributing to wider goals around sustainable development and community well-being in Mauritius.
